Default Simple problem dealer can't diagnose - can you?

I have a 1993 3000 GT SL with about 100k miles.
On occassion, I can hear something running under the hood, even when the car is off and the keys are removed. I can't quite figure out where it's coming from, but it's in the area of the passenger's side headlight. It's not the headlight motor or radiator fan. When it happens, it will run until the battery is cold dead. Took it to two dealers. Problem would not occur, and both told me they couldn't help me without recreating the problem. One of them told me it was because I didn't have factory battery. I bought one from him reluctantly, hoping he was right.
He wasn't.
SInce it's an intermintent problem, I don't know what to do. The dealer mechanics are clueless, and I keep having to jump the car.
There is a canister under the drivers side wheel well, but I thought that was just a filter and shouldn't be have any motor sounds coming from it, right?
Has anyone else had this problem or tell me what it might be?
Thanks

It's your ABS pump making the noise. Unbolt the ABS fuse from the fuse box inside the engine bay and you will no longer have that problem. It could be a bad computer for the ABS or a bad relay on the pump itself. There are 2-3 relays on the pump. If you need replacement parts for it just let me know. I've got quite a few ABS parts available.

there is a t.s.b on that same issue. its been quite a few years ago, so you will have to look hard to find it. that abs relay does go bad and you have to access it through the fenderwell. good luck!! greg..
