can you take out the motor in a SL and do a total VR-4 swap??? will it work with FWD only?

It is possible, people have done it before. But it costs a lot to do unless you know how to do it yourself. The general opinion of people who have actually done the swap say that they would have rather just saved up for a VR4, and that both would have cost about the same (with your previous car being sold, of course).

oh yeah about that, would twin-turbo charging an SL be cheaper than a VR-4? or is it still better to just go ahead and get the VR-4?

Depends on how you go about it, and if you can do it your self. I for one am extreemly happy wih my TT conversion, as are most people I know that have done the conversion. Check out 3SI.org for more information about doing the swap. Lots of information there.
