Default Swap my 6G72 with a 6G72TT

I blew my engine recently and Im looking to drop a TT engine in my 3000 SL. On the site that Im planning on ordering from, they say that I will need a transmission from a VR4. Is that true?

this is not true...you can do the tt swap on an sl motor...it is the same motor...the dohc 6g72...all you need is tt parts to make it happen.

actually this is not true. the motor for your sl has a different compression ratio as the vr-4, it is higher. 10:1 and 8:1 i believe. this swap has been done by some people on 3si but you cannot run as high boost on this motor than if you were to just drop a vr-4 engine into your car.
i want to do the same thing you are doing eventually though. i mean swap the entire motor instead of bolting on the parts. im just waiting for my motor to have some catastrophic disaster happen to it, since it just wouldnt be practical to make a project out of my daily driver.
ok so the smarter way to go would be the way you initially wanted to go. just swap the entire motor out. it will be much safer and you will save yourself alot of head ache. good luck man and keep us posted on the project.

...to answer your question, yes, the tranny will bolt up fine. You should spend some extra bucks and get a LSD for the transaxle...
