I own a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL. Someone broke my right tail light at school and i need some advice on what i should do to replace it. The middle lens of the tail light is what was cracked. Just the middle part was cracked and the other parts of the tail light are ok. Do they sell just the middle part lens or do i have to buy the whole complete tail light? Do u people know of any webistes that might sell this part?? Thanks.

 

Unfortunately, you will have to replace the whole light unit. To remove the unit, you have to remove three nuts holding it in. These are located inside the cargo department and are accessed through the small plastic covers on the inside. Once these nuts are removed, just pull the light outward, unplug the wire harnesses and replace. These are one piece to help keep water from entering and staying in the light units. You can buy these at the dealer.

 

wait, you're not asking if you have to replace the whole entire unit are you? as in the left tail light, the right tail light, and the center garnish are you? if you are, no you don't have to buy the whole thing. you can just buy each individual light. and if the piece is removable. then you may be able to look in the classified section @ www.3si.org and find what you are looking for. sorry if i didn't get the original post right, so you may already know everything i just said. good luck

Ive got a passengers side tail light off a Stealth,it basically is the same except theres a "lip" on the lower part of the lense.I had to replace the tail light on my gt,and got this one by mistake,it mounts the same,and after buying the correct one for the gt,I realized that if I had just cut off the lower lip it would have been a perfect fit.gonna list it on ebay soon but if anyone here is interested,ill sell it cheap...
