Default Take a look...

I'm looking to buy a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 and I saw this one online for sale. Check it out and tell me if it looks alright. I'm going to go check it out in person, so I was wondering if there is anything in particular to look for. Thanks for your help. Here's the link: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/316015685.html

I also found this one: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/car/315960546.html

I've heard things about a recall, and making sure maintanence has been done on the timing belt. Anyone know anything about these issues?

Well, that year was pretty much the wost of them all. They had leaky transfer cases and the engines spun bearings all the time. Not to mention they are hard to work on and that price is WAAAAY over the top

Holy crap. A 99 vr-4. How much are they asking for it. Those are very rare and i would not be surprised if they are asking for 20k. But the other one seems decently priced. These guys know alittle better than i do on the pricing. But i would say its not bad for a vr-4. But the 99 is awesome. If you got the money i say pick that thing up

I was referring to the 1991 there... the 99s not bad (price depending) but Id say theyd prolly want like closer to $15K for it.

The 91 appears to be pretty clean, 8100 may be a little much though. The main problem with the 91's is the 18spline output shaft. It will not tolerate being launched hard repeatedly, it will break. The bearing issue is a myth, they all spin bearings equally (that is the general consensus of 3si.org anyway).

Find out the price of the 99. There were less that 300 of them made. They are highly desirable.

Only problem with the 99 is... those rims are just plain ugly. Something about chrome on sports cars (and luxury sports cars, for that matter...) I think it would be hot with a set of like black and silver rims... IMO

seriously with the miles it has and that its a 99, i dont car what rims are on it. If they were spinners i still wouldnt care. There were only like stealth said under 300 made and i think only like 45 total reported sales on them. So this is a rare car. If its under 20k its a good deal. Those always go for over 20k

Okay. So the 1999 is probably far out of my price range then. As for the 1991, I won't be drag racing or anything like that with it. Are there any other issues with the 91 model I should be aware of?
