Twin Turbos
I know there has been lots ok talk about an SL conversion to the twin turbo, but I just havea few questions if anyone knows the answers.
I have a 92 SL and I need a new motor anyway. I can get a N/A motor for about $1000 and the TT motor for about $2200.
I know about all the work that needs to be done to put all the VR4 parts onto the SL motor. My question is - Is it cheaper to put the TT motor or the VR4 conversion into my car. And does the TT motor bolt to the SL 5spd transmission.
If I put the TT motor, all I would have to do is cut for the innercoolers, new ECU, and the fuel pump.
If anyone has done either please let me know.

RE: Twin Turbos
are you asking if you should do a tt conversion or a vr4 conversion.
a tt would be SOOOO MUCH easier. a vr4 conversion would entail making your car awd, which would be stupid expensive and time consuming. if you want awd you'd be better off buying a vr4 to begin with.
on a side not, if you decide that you want to just tt the car, i've got a stock intercooler system that i could sell you.

ahhhh, i see.
i say just get the motor and call it a day. you'll end up having to upgrade a bunch of **** otherwise. this way, most of the stuff that you need will come with it.

RE: Twin Turbos
Thanks guys. I figured it was going to cost about the same. I don't really want the AWD, and buying a VR4 would just be so much easier. Anything really hard that I might come across when putting the TT motor in? Is it worth it to just put an aftermarkert innercooler in for just the two seperate innercoolers?
Thanks for everything.

RE: Twin Turbos
well, are you planning on running stock turbos? if you're running stockers, everything else is not really necessary. just go stock, however if you are, or plan up running larger turbos anytime soon, it couldn't hurt to go bigger sidemounts or maybe even front mount.
