Is a vr-4 Still drivabele with only one of the turbos working?
I'm trying to get a vr4 and i found one but one of the turbos needs to be rebuilt or replaced, i was planing on replaceing both of them any way but after i get the car im not going to have enough to replace the turbos right away. can any one tell me if it would get me to work for like a month with only one turbo working so i could get the money to replace both of the turbos? thanks.

Well it is posible that it will run sort of ok but i really wouldnt recomend it because it could cause other problems and your turbo could just lock up causing back pressure. You only need to replace the one thats bad anyway. Why both?

The car has 225,000 miles on it and I was thinking about replacing the turbos with some that give better performance because I will have to replace the motor pretty soon I am going to upgrade every thing.

Ok slow down. There is no need to replace the motor. Seriously. Unless the motor is showing signs of losing compression then there really is no need regardless how many miles are on it. If you cant afford it at the moment then what is stoping you from just finding a good used on from ebay or something? It will save you lots of cash and probly only cost you a couple hundred bucks.
I will say again that you dont need to replace the motor AT ALL unless you are losing compression. In that situation you should still NOT change the motor. Simply do a rebuild with perhaps better rods and pistons but this is still not 100% needed.
Please tell me why you think you need to replace the motor.

Oil leaks, car won't crank all the time, won't pass emissions, and I want to make sure I get many more miles out of the car. Some one said to just get a new motor and replace/rebuild the busted turbo and it will be as good as new.
Any sudgestions?

i dont trust rebuilt turbos at all i would recomend replacing that... thats the cheap part. You really dont need a new motor. Just have it rebuilt. Your engine will be like new after the rebuild and it will have saved you lots of money.
With the emissions thing... you might just have a bad cat
