Default vr4 mods

i just sold my 1993 3000gt with 80k miles for $7500 and bought a 1992 vr4 with 120k miles from an old man who never drove it for $3000. i'm going to be purchasing a newer engine with closer to 40k miles to drop in it. but what else should i do. i was thinking of something simple like the tanabe g-blue exhaust, the dejon pre turbo intake pipes, and the dejon smic with piping kit. i was thinking about upgrading the turbos to the dr-500's but idk if i should. dynamicracing said all i need for the turbos is the denso fuel pump. but injectors would probably be better for it also. but with injectors you would have to get a fuel controler also. so adding turbos seems to be too expensive. any other ideas

Is there something wrong with the engine?

no there's nothing wrong with the engine, but i'd rather start with a newer one. i was thinking of getting dr-500 turbos, tanabe g-blue exhaust, denso fuel pump, apexi boost controller, and turbo timer. but what else would i need without going crazy with injectors and fuel controllers cuz dynamic racing said you dont need it with those turbo. if i got that stuff then i'd save up for the intake and smic kit

There is a decent chance that the "old man" took good care of his engine, kept up the maintenance issues etc. than some unknown used engine...

Don't forget little things like a data logger, the appropriate guages. I'm on the fence about turbo timers, I wouldn't waste the money on one if I was you. Just don't shut the car off immediately after a hard run and it will be fine.

Edit: While the engine is out, it might be a good time to replace the engine mounts. Is a good downpipe on your list? Have the tranny freshened up if need be. New clutch and flywheel. While the driveshaft is out, check the u-joints.

Edit 2: Whatever your dollar total is for parts/labor, try to have about double that ready to spend for little things that always pop up.

for now i think i'm gonna go with the exhaust, intake, bov, and just the polished intercooler hard pipe kit. maybe the downpipe and underdrive pulley as well. but if i do decide to upgrade to the dr500 turbos in the furture then i'll get the fmic or smic. i mean with the exhaust, downpipe, intake, and pulley that should get it close to 350hp right?

To the crank...maybe.

Exhaust is negligible.
Intake is negligible.
Underdrive pulley is a gamble...some have had success, others have not.
Intercooler hard pipe kit is just bling for a stock turbo'd car.

Start with a datalogger, a 60k service, a manual/electric boost controller @12-14lbs, a boost gauge, downpipe, gutted precats, hotwired or upgraded fuel pump and go from there.

is it worth doing a 1999 conversion to it with body, spoiler, and everything. i checked 3sx and they sell those parts really pricy. is it possible to find a junked 99 and just take the body from it? or does anyone know of anyone selling parts from their 99 3000gt?

It is possible to find used parts, but they seem to be is short supply.
