Default 2000 Diamante radio problem

I had to replace the battery the other day and now need to enter a code for the radio to work. The dealer says the code is on top of the radio and they charge $50 to take it out to get the code. Does anyone know how to take the radio out or would it be worth the $50 to have the dealer do it?

The numbers you need ontop of the radio is the SERIAL NUMBER. From there, they can go online to the Mitsubishi Diamond Network and look up the radio code you need to activate your radio. I'll tell you 1st hand that the Diamante HU is a major pain in the *** to remove as you basically have to remove everything including the HVAC controls all in one piece. $50 is cheap compared to what our dealership would charge!!

Thanks Joel, I finally found out by the dealer what to look for and pulled it out myself. You are right, it was a pain to remove. I thought I was going to have to break some things to get it out, but we finally figured how it came out after fighting with it for about an hour.

Thanks,
Alan
