Electrical problem, 97 Diamante...
The last things I have tried are:
(all fuses check in entire car to be good)(there are relays in relay/fuse box that I have no clue as to what they might do, one has decal of battery on it)(My Aussie manual doesnt state anything about these)
I hooked test light to solenoid power wire, turned ign key, it lights so I am getting voltage at least to starter.
Removed starter and tried to spin it with any of 3 batteries using jumper cables, no spin..
Batteries have voltages from 12.38 to 12.50, none of the 3 will spin it....
Maybe the starter is still bad?
Maybe the batteries are bad?
2 of them will charge all night @2 amps.
the brand new, never used battery was the lowest voltage!!!
check back later
thanks for the replies, keeps me at it,
Kevo

batteries lose their charge over time so dont worry about the low voltage...how did u try to jump the starter? it would have been easier to leave the starter on and just take a screw driver and jump the two posts...be carefull it will spark and try to start the car. if nothing happens grab ur fluke and check the voltage to the starter as someone cranks the engine to c if u r getting adequate voltage...if u have adequate voltage and u hear clicks but the car doesnt start then the starter is most likely bad...if u hear no clicks then the solenoid is most likely bad. I have trouble with the fact that the relays arent in the owners manual, look again and make sure because a bad relay wont allow the car to start either
I tried to jump the starter with jumper cables this a.m. to no avail. Took it back to Autozone and this time it failed the bench test in their test cabinet, HOORAY, I FOUND A BAD PART! Replaced the starter and installed a battery, almost spins it out of the engine bay! So, I have at least found one problem. I cleaned up all the mess, cleaned a rear sticking caliper and washed it and then washed my wifes truck before I picked her up from work. We shall see if the other problem is gone. The bad starter could have been gouging the battery, hence driving it a lot the problem never showed up. We shall see. I thank you all for you help, keeping me thinking about it 24-7. There is nothing worse than a ghost in one of my machines! I will post updates and does anyone have a digital manual for my Mits? The Aussie version seems over my head by a few feet...
