noisy startup

Default noisy startup

i have a 2001 Mitsubishi diamante which makes a clacking sounds at first start up then goes away after couple mins.what could this be and how to fix or how much could it cost to fix? please help

tappets. About 120 each for mitsi originals. 40 for aftermarket. Unless the oil pump is shat aswell.
I wouldnt bother.

You should check the belts and see if they are loose or cracked. Belt noises and whining with the power steering pump on this vehicle is common. The noise could be from the belt is too tight or the pump fluid is too low.

i had the belts, water pump, tension down at 100000 and also had a pulley replaced.
tappets?how many are there?

as many are there are valves.
Seriously. Wouldnt bother.

what can I do now or anything that can be done? still drives fine. no hesitation,stalling nothing.

there is no need. It will not do any damage.
They are easy enough to swap out, remove cam shaft bearing caps and lift out rocker arms, pull tappets, check em and put new ones where needed.
