Replacing1999 Diamante Radio
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I just bought a 99 Diamante. The car has no CD player but only a Cassette Player and AM/FM Radio. One of the local dealers told me that the car does not have an Infinity system (based on the VIN # and also it doesn't stay Infinity on the deck).
I would like to get a CD player. I installed a Sony CDX-GT400 and it sounded annoyingly loud. Bass, Treble, Mid everything was just loud however you adjust it. I felt like there was no separation of the different frequencies and I got an headache after listening for half-hour or so (I don't keep volume high, just usual). I guess the speakers were not good enough for the head unit. So, I got rid off it and put the factory radio back in.
Now, my question to the experts here are:
1. Should I just find the Original OEM Mitsubishi CD player add-on for this model on ebay and install the add on cd player?
2. Should I just install a new head unit? if so, could someone plase make a recommendation.
I don't have the money to upgrade the speakers. I am just looking for a decent CD player that will produce the best possible sound with my existing speakers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

personaly if I am going to change a head unit I never go with another stock one. Many afforadable head units these days are so upgradeable, even if your not planing to do anything now, and you usualy get better sound out of your stock speakers with it. The big pro to going with stock is that it is direct fit and easier, better if you dont have a lot of experience changing head units....... but its really not that hard, you can figure it out.
Its not hard at all. Depending on what you do it can be very easy, I would recomend going to a bestbuy or somehting of that nature and getting an aftermarket headunit, a wiring harness, and a dash kit. In all the entire install should take about 45 min. The hard part is getting to all of the stuff hidden in the dash board. It shouldt cost more than 200 depending on what headunit you want.
