Default stalls at idle

I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Diamante LS, V6, 3.0 litre automatic with 175,000 miles. It runs well and has plently of power at highway speed but lately it has started stalling out at idle. It just will not idle. If I put my foot gently on the accelerator pedal and try to keep the rpms at about 1,000, it will not stall but the rpms wander back and forth between 500 and 1,000. If the rpms drop below 500, the engine stalls. It will start again with no difficutly and I can drive it but it will not idle. I have cleaned the throttle body valve with no improvment.

Default stall

i think that is lose compression you will need a new engine. the same problem with my friends car. every time she stop on a traffic light or stop sign the engine stall. the mechanic replace a wire underneath but it keeps coming back every 4-6 months.

you mention the throttle body, can you tell me where is the location of that throttle body?

Default tps interchangeability

I've been checking prices on new TPS for my 1995 Diamante 3 liter V6 and, with one exception (Edelbrook TPS, part #3590 AT $45) they.re all over $100. I'm not sure whether it's compatible tho. Thought I'd check online for used parts. Many are listed but I don't know which might be interchangeable. Does anyone know how I can check, maybe a manual or something, to make sure that I am buying a compatible part? Thanks for your help.

I am cleaning the throttle body on my 2002 Diamante in order to solve a stalling issue. The small red round red plunger style device has no wires or vacuum lines connected to it however the boot looks worn and tired. Not sure if this is the issue but I can not find any reference to this part in the shop manual. Does anybody know what it is and its function or impact to Idle ?
What is the round Red mechanism?
