Default Crazed cloudy plastic headlight enclosure cleaning

I found that I could greatly improve the headlights on a Mitsubishi Endeavor 2005 by polishing the plastic lens or housing.

You can do this just as well by hand but it takes quite a bit of polishing and I used an electric drill with a cloth buff for the second headlight.

First I polished with rubbing compound. This is a fine powder abrasive mixed with water. It is sold for polishing cars that have lost their luster and need to have the top layer of paint removed. The one I have is Number 7 coarseness, but that is probably not critical. As I started polishing I could feel the roughness of the headlight housing gradually disappearing.

Then I finished with Brasso which is intended for polishing brass and can be found at large supermarkets. It is similar to the rubbing compound but much finer.
