break in oil in diff , tc and tranny with 30k
Well I just changed my oil in my 2003 evo. A buddy mine who knows tons about cars and trucks helped me and we noticed someone moron who owned the car before me decided he could run on the breakin fluidfor as he liked with out every changing the rear diff , tc and tranny . my tranny drain plug / magnet with pretty coated with metal shavings , thank god that was in there huh. also same with rear diff and t/c . the good part the oil didn't smell burnt , which i guess the previous never beat on this car which is good and car was in stock condition when i bought it. I replaced the tc and rear diff with diaqueen LSD fluid from mitsubshi and there diaqueen multi gear oil 75w-85 which they use in the 6 speed , but team rip or TRE highly recommends running this is the 5 speed. Plus i changed my engine oil , mobil 1 10w30 extanded performance , and the mobile 1 filter too. I have to say there is a big difference in smoother shifts and less noise out of the drive train speacily during down shifting. I still need to bleed the clutch fluid cause i got to push the pedal almost throw the floor to get the clutch disc to stop catching and making my shifts alittle notchy and hard. it got late so didn't do that tonight , but thats for another night.
ya I'm gonna bleed , but reguardless op the out come i'm going to put in a new clutch. Anyone got a suggestion on which one to go with. I've been thinking about the either the clutchmaters stage 1 clutch or The ACT 3200 Clutch Kit w/ Street Disc. I don't like exedy and have had nothinig but problems with them along with all my friends havning problems with them too.
Well im sorry to tell you, but EXEDY is the best for these cars. Not to mention, its what is in there stock anyways. EMonz57 and F.O.G are both high HP EVO people (450+), and they run EXEDY.
My suggestion would be the twin disc. Its a little expensive but well worth the gain.

I thought about that after i posted it.. like "Hey didnt he give mike the twin disc?" oops.
I forgot about the tranny lockout for the ACT. But i guess if this guy is near stock then i guess that would be okay

Well all i got is my intake for now . 3in turbo back exhaust on the way . then next with some help from my tax returns , going to do cams , fuel pump , intercooler , turbo , reflash . etc , etc . try for around 400whp. But thats good to know about the ACT's clutchs. I ran a clutch master stage 1 in my eclipse gst 99 , running 350whp and loved it to know end and was a diehard believer in them. I put a exedy clutch in my 93 honda civic ex with 233,000 miles on it and ended up snaping the rivots off that hold the hub in the disk. so i was like wow , a whole 126hp to the fly wheel snapped this clutch . then my buddy's turbo honda did that same and then with another one on the same car the ceramic pads came off some of the pucks. So after that i was like wow never again. but if the evo guys are swearing buy them i guess i gotta go with what i'm told works
Thats interesting about the Hondas. I cant imagine why.
Clutchmasters just seem almost like a cheaper alternative. I just follow the "you get what you pay for" and "never cheap out when buying something as important as a clutch" things.

And about the you get what you pay for. Def follow this on the Evo. your drivetrain is a weak point of the car mainly the T case. and the clutch makes a hue difference on T case life. Hence why twin discs are so popular on these cars, because they cause less SHOCK on hard runs and shifts and launches
