Who would’ve thought that someone would compare the power of a Porsche to a Mitsubishi? Well today’s Face off Friday does just that byputting the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX and the Porche 911 GT3 in the same sentence and comparing the abilities of both. The Porsche 911 GT3 has 415 horsepower and a MSRP of $106,000, while the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX has 280 horsepower and costs less than halfwith a MSRP of$31,399. So can you have the same fun for less than half the price with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX? Let’s look at the Porsche 911 GT3 first. The car comes in a 3.6 liter 6-cylinder engine that produces 415 horsepower and 300 lb-ft. of torque. This gives the Porsche 911 GT3 the ability to do 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds with top speeds of 193 mph. There is no way, that Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX could beat that right? Well you’d be surprised. With a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo engine the Mitsubishi LancerEvo IX produces 286 horsepower and 289 lb-ft. of torque. That’s 129 horsepower less than the Porsche 911 GT3. So what is the 0-60 mph time on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX? 4.5 seconds with top speeds of 150 mph. So there you have it. Who said German engineering couldn’t be beaten. You can have the same fun in Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX as compared to the Porsche 911 GT3 for half the price. So now you can spend that extra $74,601 somewhere else. Maybe pick yourself up a BMW M3 when it comes out.

 

that is a pretty vauge comparison. Kind of cool yet retarded at the same time. I mean who says all the fun in these cars are 0-60 and top speed? how bout some slolum and track times and all that stuff cause the real fun in the Evo is in the corners

I’m sure the author of the article is just trying to give a brief summary comparing both cars while not getting into the more serious details.This article was obviously designed for the general public cause most people (that don’t know much, or maybe not into cars) look at 0-60 time and top speeds. That sounds like some of the most common things people would look for. However, for the peeps on this forum know way better than to compare cars by simple 0-60 times and top speeds. I don’t blame the author of this article, he was simply trying to get the attention of the general public. I jus blame the person responsible for posting this article. lol
