Default Evo 8 rpm surge

Alright first off, my gaurdian just bought a 2003 Evo VIII. its got a 3" turbo back exhaust, intake, boost controller and a turbo timer along with some audio stuff. Well when you are shifting out of 2nd at a high rpm, the rpms surge up quite a bit, same going from 3rd to 4th and i would assume the same thing with 1-2 and 4-5. I think my talon had this problem when it had a turbo timer, is that whats causing this?

what do you mean by surgeing?

And the EVo stock boost is 19 so if it has a pump you can run 19-24 if he really wanted to but I wouldnt run more than 22 with out higher octane fuel of alky \meth or water injection

we are running 93 octane in it. he doesnt remember what rpms he was shifting at (prolly low) but it would rev its self up to like 6k, almost like you still had the gas 3/4 the way down when u hit the clutch. Oh and also, how stiff is the stock clutch compared to what my talon had? cuz this ones pretty stiff and we are thinking its aftermarket.

WVO stock clutch is like cheeze it is very soft. My carwas reving like that but ony when I shift at 4k or higher t seemed then a week or two later my CEL came on and it was a TPS code which made sence. also had a bad leak at the TB shaft seals which I replaced as well. a New TPS runs like $200 so I wouldnt buy one yet. if anything check the shaft seals in theTB cause they do go bad at like 10-15k and most people dont replace them and its like an $18 fix
