New to the site. Just bought a 99 Eclipse fairly cheap with a cracked block (from poor winterizing). 2.0 non-turbo. I already figured on replacing the engine. Any suggestions? I'm already being told to look for a Gen-I engine. I kinda wish it was a turbo,...But I mostly bought it for a sporty gas mileage ride as an alternative to my jacked-up V8 truck. I know these cars do not have a good rep on the engines, but looking to put something together that I can rely on. I build V8s so this is a new one on me.

 

gen 1 is a 6 bolt block gen 2 is a 7 bolt block
