Default Help!!!! Major Issue!!

I've got an EVO IX with following mods:
-ported exhaust manifold (Buschur)
-3" downpipe (Buschur)
-BLOX 3 " Testpipe
-Buschur UICP with stock BOV
-Buschur cold air intake MAF
-Buschur inline MBC at 20 psi

Anyways, I just replaced the spark plugs with the same as stock (NGK Laser Iridium) plugs. Very easy job I thought. I went with the pre-gap on the plug as it came (about 0.24) . Well, as soon as I started it up, it was idling very rough, then it started to back fire and misfire. I then tried to increase the gap to 0.26 and same thing. Then I tried to under-gap it (0.22) and once again the same thing!! So now I tried to put the old plugs in and once again, same misfire and backfire along with rough idle. I can smell a lot of fuel as it sits at idle. Can this be an air:fuel ratio issue.
Please help, I need to get this car running soon!!!
Thanks in advance!!

What's the proper order? I plugged them in just as they were before I took them out. The Evo IX plugs are NGK iridiums though. I don't know what to do. Do you think I have a wire issue?

OK, I got it running again. It was the coil pack and the wires that were gone. Why would these go bad now though?
