Oxygen sensors/Check engine light
Since I’m in the process of doing stuff correctly I'll go ahead and ask about the oxygen sensors. I was doing some researchon “how stuff works.com”, and learned, “When the oxygen sensor fails, the computer can no longer sense the air/fuel ratio, so it ends up guessing. Your car performs poorly and uses more fuel than it needs to”. [/i]Now with that being quoted from the site, I know I’ll generate a check engine light if I replace the catalyst converter for a test pipe. What route can I take without getting a check engine light?? I was thinking maybe a High flow catalyst converter might work but I don’t know for sure. So far for exhaust, I got a Borla 3” catback system. I was also planning on getting my stock exhaust manifold ported and polished. But I just don’t wanna deal with a CEL, I know there got to be ways around this.

well there's this thing, i forget the name of it, but it's like a fake o2 sensor. it's what ppl throw on the exhaust in place of the oem o2 sensor. and all it does is give the pcm a false sense of everything working correctly. and it will say everything's running fine which means therre won't be an increase of fuel thrown thru ur system. damn, i can't believe i can't think of the name of it. lol

i think it's called an o2 sensor simulator, but not quite sure, and yeah i typed it into google and came up with one for 40 bucks, it's universal, but would do the job. ask emonz cuz he told me something about it. he'll deff know where you oculd pick one up

you can do a o2 'fix' or a o2 sim. The o2 fix is cheap and easy and works fine on the stock turbo at least for me it did. the o2 sim is more $$$ and works no matter what flow your car is making

This is the Write up I did with TheEngineer on what we did for my car and it worked like a charm on the stock turbo. However on the 50trim it flows alot more dirty air so it doesnt work any more. ALSO a high flow cat will work
This is a quick fix on how to install a spark plug fouler when you have a high flow cat or a test pipe installed and you want to get rid of the check engine light (CEL) or service engine soon light (SRS).
STEP 1
-purchase 2 spark plug anti foulers at your local auto parts store
-18 mm size
-made by HELP brand / part number 42002
-HELP has also another part number 42009 and are shorter in length than the 42002, i have heard they worked , but i am not 100 percent
STEP 2
-disconnect the negative terminal on your battery. this will reset your ecu
-take one of the anti foulers and drill out its center using a 1/2 bit ,
-this will increase its hole size and allow your stock o2 sensor to fit
STEP 3
-screw the drilled spark plug anti-fouler on top of the original
-be sure to use some kind of anti-seize on the treads. in case you need to remove your fix with ease
STEP 4
-unscrew your stock o2 sensor and place your cel / ses fix in
-use anti seize on the threads
-clean your cell (by wiping it off with a paper towel)
STEP 5
-reinstall your o2 sensor
-use anti seize on the threads
STEP 6
-reconnect your battery (your ecu is reset)
-you have just solved the problem of the 'damn light keeps coming on'
