Default t-case question

okay, sooo... i go to pick up one of my friends, and i have the radio turned down, and as im on the throttle in first... i hear a little whine. I dont think much of it at first but after that when i get home, i go to put the car into first and begin to get a VERY loud whineing sound. i havent drove it, i jus parked it n figured id get some info on here. i think it may b the transfer case. if it is... is it covered under warranty? and if its not how much does it normally go for to get replaced. i have a shop down the street that works on mitsu's. but would it be safe to drive there?

FYI you should do the T case fluid and tranny fluids every 6k. They are very noisy as it is stock. Are you on the stock clutch? you can get warrentied if you car is stock but otherwise your looking at $2k+ just in parts and that is used and not including labor which is a Pain in the ars

well for the past 2 days, i havent heard anything... cept when i downshift i hear a humming noise sometimes. but ya, right now only thing i have is a dp,test pipe, and catback. so do u think i should jus slap my stock exhaust on it and take it to the dealership and have it fixed before getting a reflash?
