We then took and replaced the cams with GSC S1's and while there installed the ARP Head studs. Next weekend I'll be installing the fuel pump, FP green turbo, injectors, and downpipe. Hopefully it will be running by the end of the day next weekend. Emonz, a couple of questions: 1. My old exhaust manifold gasket consists of three layers of copper. Can I reuse it, it looks pretty good (maybe because I only have 10,000 mi on my car). Also, what about the other metal gaskets such as the 02 housing? Where is the best place to pick up gaskets, I need one for the oil return line on the turbo. 2. How do you get the back seat out of the Evo to install the fuel pump. Any tips on installing the fuel pump? I wasn't able to locate any decent write-ups... 3. When installing your 50 trim, did you use the stock wastegate actuator or did you upgrade. If you did upgrade, how did you know where to set your actuator on the adjuster? Sorry, that was more than a couple questions. I may come up with more as I think about it over the week. |
RE: Turbo upgrade
The gaskets I would buy new ones. they cant cost much. and mitsu might be the place to get them
To get the back seat out there are 2 pull tabs under the lip of the seat on the front side of them they are plasitc. when you pull them the seat will pop up and then you take it out from there. the fuel pump is easy. no wiring needed you just drop in the pump and your done. Take the old on out and toss in the new one. only issue is it can be a pain in the balls because the housing just barley fits into the tank so you have to fight it for a little bit to get it in there. My 50trim is not internally gated. I have an external 44mm TiaL wastegate with a 15lbs spring. So yea I dont have any clue for an internally gated turbo upgraded |

RE: Turbo upgrade
All the parts have been installed but I haven't been able to start the car yet. My brother put the wrong size bolt in the O2 housing and stripped the thread. Tomorrow morning I'm going to repair the problem and then should have it running. The only other incident was stripping off one of the studs the exhaust manifold bolts on to. I was torquing them down and one gave way. Does anybody know if you have to take the head in to get this fixed? I'm going to run it like it is for now; don't think there should be any trouble as long as the other bolts are torqued down correctly.

RE: Turbo upgrade
Bolts are fairly easy to tap out. All you need is a reverse thread bit, you drill a hole in the broken bolt, you hammber the bit into it, attach the drill, put it in reverse, and away you go.
