I've been having a problem with my 2005 Galant in the colder winter months when the temperature is below 40 degrees. Upon starting the car, a loud rattle comes from the engine compartment. It doesn't go away unless I shut off the car and restart it. Sometimes I have to repeat that process a few times to remove the rattle. When it's warm, there's no rattle. I've been told that this could be a hydraulic lifter issue. Unfortunately, its warmer now and the dealership can't diagnose the problem. Are there any other ways of diagnosing this issue in warm weather? Could this problem be caused by something other than a lifter?
