Default 96 Galant S type

Wan't to change the transmission fluid - but don't know how many quarts are required to refill or what type fluid I should use. Can anyone help?

Default RE: 96 Galant S type

There's a lot of nonsense flowing about this. Chilton suggests Mechron, and other people suggest ATF+3. Only use Diamond SP-III if you value your car.

The gasket is a big question also. I have a 96 S too, and it's a 13-hole pan. Not 12, not 14.

I refilled it before without taking off the pan. In that case, it takes about 4.5 quarts. I'd buy 5 bottles.

For everything that's wholesome, be careful when tightening pan bolts. Those holes do not take much to strip.

{edit: one of my local dealerships sells the kit - gasket and the filter for $44. I'm going to check it out today.}
