Default automatic transmission problem

Hi All,</P>

The 'N' lamp on thedashboard for the atmflashes when I am driving on 'D', '3', '2' and 'L' and the gear shifting becomes slippery (This happens intermittantly). I've read on the manual which says that this is because the automatic transmission fluid is overheating. Anyone have any idea on what the root cause of this is could be?. The atm fluidis at the correct level andis of a very translucent colour.</P>

Thanks</P><edited><editID>oj0hn</editID><editDate>37991.2686689815</editDate></edited>

Default automatic transmission problem

I just had my car serviced but the problem still remains. I did ask the mechanic but he said he didn't know much about automatic transmissions. </P>

The problem had dissapeared for about two weeks, after I had my battery changed. However it re-emereged recently after I took my car to the garage to replace the distributor. The car was sitting idle for about a week because of difficulties with getting the part. Now that I have it back I get the same problem again and have to switch the engine off and then back on to get rid of it.</P>
