hey guys, i have a 1998 mitsubishi galant and it drives excellent. only problem is it idols low and stalls out sometimes when stopped for some odd reason. any reason why?

 

did u even bother searching for the answer to your problem. there was just a post about this a week ago. well there are many ways the car will stall. did u do anything to ur car recently like install a cold air filter? or its possible that ur cold air got wet. or u need to reset your ecu chip...

 

Check your MAF and or clean out the TB. That might help.

 

yes i did take the cold air filter off and re-intall it . so how do i fix it to where it stops idiling low? and how much does it cost to reset the ecu chip?/steve

 

to get it reset, some guys said it was free. but others said they had to pay. so pretty sure its not that much. bring it to the dealership and see wat they say.

 

Wait you don't have to pay anyone to reset the ECU. Diconnect the battery for about 15 minutes then reconnect. Your all set....

 

Yep, resetting will tell the ecu will force it to readapt. a good throttle body cleaning will do wonders.

 

Sounds more like a loose connection on the intake between the MAF and the intake manifold. Check all your piping connections. Did you do any mods when installing the cold air system or are you stock?
