I have a minden silver 1999 Galant ES. Last night during heavy snow, a lightpost fell on the hood of my car while it was parked in the driveway. It wasn't dented (thankfully), but there are now 8 deep black scratches on the hood and right quarter panel.

I would touch up the scratches myself, but since they are so large and in such a visible spot, I would prefer a professional fix the problem.

So my question is this: Should I take the car to my mechanic or to the dealer? And how much does a cosmetic fix like this typically cost?
