Default Engine swop - Galant 2.0 V6 6A12

Hie,

I have just found this forum, and it is very informative. I have just taken delivery of Galant with the 2litre V6 6A12 engine. The engine is blown and am considering fitting the 2.5 V6 motor. Is this possible? Do i also need to change the gearbox and computer box? (My vehicle has an automatic gearbox)

Your help will be greatly appreciated

Regards
lemmyb

I don't believe that there are any 2.0L V6 engines made for the galant or any other car for that matter. My galant had a 2.4L Inline 4 Cylinderengine in it.
What year is your galant?

Oh and is it a DOHC or SOHC?

If you have a VR-4, you are very very lucky.

Sweet, you have the DOHC 2.0 L V6. So jealous. You wouldn't want to put my stupid 2.4L SOHC I4 4G64 engine in that, that would be so embarrassing.

You might be able to find an engine on www.car-part.com
Good luck on finding an engine.

the 6a12 is a Euro/JDM only engine. It never made it to the states. What he is asking is if the VR4 2.5L 6a12tt fits, and it should with the addition of new electronics and new transmission, though the AWD would be a costly swap.

My Galant also has the 6A12 engine.Yup, you can swap in the 6A13 engine into the E54 chasis withno major problems. If you're guying half cut, usuallthe wiring and ecu are all included. pretty straight forward. Good Luck!

The 6a13 is rotated 180 degrees for the 6a12. In other words they are not facing the same direction. The swap can be done but it will not be an easy drop in. You will have to custom fab motor mounts.
