Default Galant will start but long cranking

My 01 Galant will start but it takes about 2-3 seconds to do it. I just installed a remote start and it is set to two second cranking cycles. The car will not start on the first cranking cycle. On the second cranking cycle, it starts up in 1 second leaving the starter engaged for 1 second.

What could cause the cranking to take so long? What could cause the cranking to change on the second cycle? Thanks for any help.

The following is what already has been done:
New spark wires
New plugs
New K&N air filter (do not buy. no change in m/g)
Recharged Battery
