Houston, TX 2001 Galant owner here with questions about the "enthusiasts world".
Hi all Galant owners and enthusiasts. I am a new member and have mostly joined to get a feel for the market in the Houston area (or Texas in general) for Galant enthusiast owners.
I am the proud owner of a '97 Honda Prelude SH and a member of a few Honda and Prelude specific enthusiasts websites. My girlfriend owns a 2001 Black Mitsubishi Galant. It is a V6, not sure of the trim though.
The car is pretty beat up (got rear ended, had a recall on the paint and it rightfully was recalled - its fading terribly). We are in the process of shopping for a new car for her, and I am trying to decide what to do with her car.
Rather than trade it in to a dealership, I always rather sell vehicles to people who are enthusiasts about that vehicle - since I am a car enthusiast myself. I sold my brother's old Volvo to a guy who wanted to do a motor swap and turbocharge it, etc. I'd much rather see someone get some use out of this than just scrap it - and I know a dealership isn't likely to restore this to actually sell on their lot.
So my question is this: is there a market in the Houston area for this type of thing? I know with the Honda market there are tons of people who would be interested. This car would probably not be the best to put a motor in, but it would make a good parts car - and it still runs just fine. She drives it every day to work...it just needs a lot of TLC or needs to be used as a parts car for the engine, transmission, interior parts (some are still in okay shape), most under-hood parts, etc. It would also make a good demolition derby car!
Thanks if you actually made it through this whole thread! If anyone knows of some people to get in touch with about this, please let me know.
