thats a no-brainer man, the jetta would kill the galant, unless the galant is the V6 195 horsepower...THEN it has a chance..if its the I4 forget it, the jetta will kill it because its a 5 speed while the galant is auto...I race my friend all the time in my I4 galant (2000 ES) and i lose in the upper speeds because of torque lack, he drives a 1995 chevy beretta lol

Having owned a 5sp 1.8t just prior to my galant I can tell you that it would not only murder it in a straightline but through the twisties as well. Don't get me wrong I love my galant, but my Jetta would have simply torn it a new one. I was able to take the most winding and twisting roads around my area about 10 to 15 mph faster than i can in the galant. And straightline performance is not even a question. That 1.8t has 180 horsepower stock...
