Rear speakers for '02

Default Rear speakers for '02

Im having troble figuring out how to pop the rear stock speakers out to install after-market 6x9's, anybody know how to do this?

How far did you get? You have to remove the rear seats (bottom and top) and access the 6x9's through the rear deck from the top.

ok thats my next question, i couldnt figure out how to remove the seats?

Ok just below the rear cushion you will find two on either side what looks like hooks. Just pull on that. The rear cushion will pull up. When you take that out you will find four bolts holding the top cushion up. Unbolt those and you will have access to the rear deck. Let me know if you still need help and I will take some pictures.

hahahah wow i would have never known that was there, tomorrow when i have more time i'll take the upper part of the seat off. but anyway thanks man, if i have any other questions i'll post them.

Not a problem. Always glad to help a fellow Galant owner. So what kind of 6x9's did you get. Another problem you might have is there going to hit the tornsion bars for the trunk lid. You can either top mount the 6x9's or somehow raise them with a spacer. If your lucky you have some real slim fitting 6x9's and don't have to worry about it.

im lookin at getting the alpine SPS-690A. i guess when they come i'll have to see how they fit.

alright i ran into a problem...

i bought a wiring harness for my speakers, and when i unplugged the stock speakers the plug that plugged into them doe not fit, do i need to cut that off and splice it into the new speaker wires and just forget about the harness?

Yeah just cut and splice. Did you need the wiring diagram?
