Default '02 Lancer OZ Warm-up catalytic converter meltdown

I have a 2002 Lancer OZ rally edition. my Service engine soon light is on. its for a TSB emr-05-001r2, pcm update for warm-upcatalytic converter meltdown, which was a recall in '05. which i had fixed. does anyone know what part i would need to replace and where i can get it, the dealer wont tell me what part it is and as far as i know they are the only place i can get it. its one of 2 sensors one is $860 and the other is $680. if anyone could help id love to be able to get the parts without having to pay a few thousand dollars in parts and labor.

What code are you getting? If its po420 cat efficiancy below threshold you'll most likly need a cat assembly.

Yes, your car does qualify for the recall. The PCM update was to prevent cat failure. But yours failed, and as such needs to be replaced. Which it will under recall if youre under 100K miles.
If youre out, then its your cost.

I just bought an '04 OZ, 212k, and just popped a P0420 for a few days. I'll check the O2 sensors, but I expect I'll be buying a front cat. I see these for <$300, which is livable.

And the OZ has a splendid Arizona body, nearly flawless, interior is good, other issues manageable, I bought it cheap. Certainly a lot easier to deal with than the Saab I had, trust me. I'll be peppering you guys with questions for a while, so thanks in advance for your patience.

How do you check the O2 sensors? Where do you find cats for less than $300?

Thanks

Default $300 cats

Some eBay vendors look legit. Lots of web sites with cats around $270.

I'll be checking O2 sensor voltages, and I May try the rear O2 spacer trick just to see. That is in a thread here somewhere.
