Cool 2000 Lancer/Cedia: swap automatic with manual transmission

Hi Guys. I am new to this board and would like to say Jambo to everyone.

I also would appreciate some advice. I have a 2000 Lancer Cedia, 4G15 with GDI engine and automatic gearbox. My gearbox has been giving me grief this whole year, and it appears that replacements are almost impossible to come by in Kenya.

I have come accross a manual gearbox and would like to know how painful/painless it would be to swap the automatic tranny for a manual?

Anyone with a similar experience?

Based from feed backs from couple of people I met, that's gonna be a long and painful process.

Like what everyone above said its a pita, unless you can get a donor car for next to nothing and your doing all the labor then go for it.
