Default Ralliart vs modded Lancer ES 2004

I have a Lancer ES 2004. 84k miles on it. I am the only owner. Great reliable car that has pretty peppy start. Very light and I think it has lots of potential. I want to upgrade short ram intake and full exhaust to get more HP and torque. In your opinion, would it make more sense to:

  1. Upgrade air intake and exhaust for under 1k on existing car
  2. Sell my car for about 3-4k, and get 2004 Ralliart for about 6-7K with similar (or even lower) mileage.
If I go upgrade route I would be under 1k, but if I sell the car and go buy Ralliart I would be spending 2-3k extra. Is ralliart worth that much more? What extra would I be getting with Ralliart? I know I would get extra 200lbs, but what else?

Thanks in advance
