Just recently i noticed a noise coming from the left front wheel area. Because it only happens when i hit a hole or go thru a dip in the raod at a certain angle i think its the shock/strut (not sure of the set up exactly). Its like a wierd popping metallic noise, as it compresses then decompresses. Any ideas on what might be goin on? My car's not even a year old, only had it for about 8months. Its a 2004 lancer rally edition. Anyone else having problems with theirs?

I have lancer 2.0 for EU market.
I had same problem, noise from front left wheel. I visited lots of times service and they couldnt found the problem.
Now i have winter tires(15", orig 16") and no noise. I dont know what was the problem and i think its coming back when i change my tires.

 

It sounds like it just may be a tire problem. You may want to take it to a tire shop and ask them to check and see if the tires are rubbing against anything. Chances are, if it is the tire rubbing, the shop may be able to fix the problem without changing out tires. Good luck.

ok, ive worked for mitsubishi for a year now, and in that year, ive had the 02 oz in 5 times for that noise. replaces all bushings, springs and the insulater. random question, have u ever spun out, cuz i think its the shock thats bent. nobody knows what it is, and ive even been told it was the motor mount{cuz we all know that thing moves so much turning the wheel!!}but ive had that prob the whole time ive had the car, with no luck...ill keep ya posted if i find ne thing out
