Default Is 97 4g15 different then 98-01 4g15 5th gen?

So my problem I'm facing is I have a 97 mitsubishi mirage 4g15 8th digit A, around 350k miles on it. Her head gasket and a valve are toast to say the least lol. She runs but burns oil/vapes like a subie owner and a meet. I have a 98 mirage 4g15 8th digit A with a turbo from the junk yard with good compression and has 76k miles on it. I was going to replace all the gasket and go over everything before the swap. But I have found out the 97 transmission is different then the 98.... I have zero info past that it's different. So before I pull my engine and rebuild the transmission from 97. Does anyone know if the transmission will bolt up to the 98? Also if not, Will the 98 head bolt onto the 97 block? I really don't want to rebuild the 97 engine or pull the head to do a gasket sinse I have a engine on the side. Thank you if anyone has any information.
