Default 97 2dr 4g63 swap Q's

i just recently accuierd a 97 mirage 2 door. dont know whats wrog with it besides it doent work, lol. not going to argue for free. but im not going to mess with the stock engine or tranny, im going to pull it out. my question is how difficult is it and what all needs to go into a 4g63 swap from a 99 GS-T eclipse? i know engine, 5speed tranny, ect, i would imagine the wiering harness. but do they make motor mounts for the swap or will i have to have them fabricated? ANY INFO WILL HELP!! as you can tell from my name im use to my merkur xr4ti's 2.3L turbo and rear wheel drive. this is all new to me.

if we're talking a 5th gen USDM mirage, forget it. the only way you're going to drop in a 4g63T is out of an Evo VII or VIII and will cost you well over $10k. If you want a swap, I've heard the Lancer RA engine fists with some modifications.

97+ = 5th generation. The Ralli Art lancer 2.4L MIVEC does something like 160hp at the flywheel stock, so if you're wanting power NA, that's the way to go. Do you have the 4g15 (1.5L) or 4g93 (1.8L). Another option is to turbo your current engine. I've got a 4g15 running about 9 pounds of boost and I'm in love with it. Ya, there's better ways to make power, but turbocharging your current set up will probably be the most cost effective way of getting power. If you've got the 1.8 engine, you're capable of well over 500whp and low 11's in the 1/4

the RA Lancer motor will NOT fit in that Mirage. The 4G69 is fly by wire and in order to get it into the car it would require you to not just get the harness and ECU and engien tranny combo, but just about EVERYTHING under the hood of a Ralliart. Its just different with MIVEC now and everything. But the 4G64 might be a STRONG viable option for you.

well including that i have a 99 eclipse GST parts car lined up with a perfectly good 4g63, good tranny, ecu, and full uncut harness, and a damn good smokeing deal on it thats the way i would like to go.

Sorry newb, AT + turbo= kiss your tranny goodbye.

Here's what you'll need in a nutshell, and I'm sure I'm going to miss a few things.
-turbo manifold
-turbo
-custom downpipe and exhaust
-wastegate and dump pipe
-intercooler
-intercooler piping
-blow off valve
-bigger injectors
-adjustable fuel pressure regulator
-bigger fuel pump
-some sort of tuning software
-swap to manual transmission
-upgraded clutch

There's more, but these are the major parts.

Oh, and you'll probably want to overhaul your motor before going turbo since it's a seven year old platform. Don't bother with it if you're on any sort of budget either. You're looking at spending a minimum of $3k for a decent set up, and that's if you install it yourself. Try bout double that if you puss out and have a shop install it.

And for future reference, please don't bring back age old threads.
