97 ID problem

Question 97 ID problem
i have come across a 97 mirage pretty cheap but the tranny is out. i need some kind of decoder or something to find out what motor it has. all that i can see that will help is the valve cover has 16 valve on it.

it is an LS coupe if that helps

i have been Googleing it and all i found was like 1.8 or 1.4 something like that
