Default Motor advice

Ok so my mom has been holding my mirage for me for a few years, and my eclipse is currently putting me through hell, so here's my thought: The mirage (a 4 door 94) need the hood and top of the car repainted, but it runs, not well, but it runs! So it's main problem is idling.. if u come to a red light you should plan on trying to get it to restart when the light turns green, but when my mom drives it she has no problem BECAUSE she holds her foot on the gas AND the brake!! Do you think I can fix that? Or should I call it a day and get a new motor??
Then the next ? is what motors fit that are reliable and NON turbo! ?? Anyone??

No other motors will fit. If you were to replace it, you would need an identical one. Or simply rebuild the current one.

The first thing I would start with would be a compression test to determine if the reason its unable to idle is due to a loss of compression, or simply a vacume leak or something like that.

If the compression test checks out, then my guess is on a vacume leak, fuel pump, MAS, or something along those lines.

Personally I would see if the car is a cheap fix. If it is, then fix it, and sell it, and spend the cash on the Spyder

Sebba lies, lies lies!!!! the 4g is the PERFECT candidate for a 4g63 swap. Mainly because the chasis in the 4g Mirage/Summit are identical to that of the Evo I-III! So, you have the option of 4g15, 4g93, 4g63, and several others. Or, you can fix the current motor. Does it throw any CEL's? Sounds to me like there might be an issue with either fuel delivery or throttle position.
