Hi! My rear hatch just stopped opening one day out of the blue!! I finally figured out how to get the panel off from the inside and was able to remove the entire locking assembly. However, I can't seem to find the replacement part. Any suggestions???

 

you have to go to the dealer, it take about a few weeks to order

 

hey I'm looking for the same thiing for a reg montero, not sport, i was at pick a part in san berdoo, ca, they have three sports with perfectly intact rear lock assemblies...but after messing with mine I'll offer as much insight as possible...

the 'locking and unlocking' on a reg montero is all tied to a little neon green plastic piece that sits around a metal bar, the neon piece turns as the key turns / power lock spring motor is engaged, on my reg montero the green piece had cracked (presumably to too much tension in the dried out interior handle). So, I zip tied the neon piece to the rod and used silicone spray lube on the handle and it's working great

btw, the silicone spray lube has been a 'fix all' for my monty, it has lubed up the sunroof tracks, power seat motors, etc.. great, but also I've used it to clean off bad ground connections throughout the car
