Default '01 Montero XLS (steering wheel squeak)???

Hello all, 97K miles now, when I turn my steering wheel at slow speeds, I hear a squeak, almost like rubber rubbing against rubber.... is there somebushing orsomethingjust behind the wheel? Will asquirt ofsome lube make it dissapear?

I have this occuring on my 02 Sport as well, maybe an easy fix?

its the rubber boot at the firewall, in which the steering shaft goes through.

push it down a bit, and spray the shaft with some WD-40 (or the like).

Yep! That fixed it! Sprayed some oil around the boot and it took care of the problem - wow cheap fix, thanks!
