I have been reading diff reviews and I know this is a lame ?, but does the 02 sport xls have the 3.5liter 197hp or the 3.0? If so does any body know what the diff is between the xls and the lmtd motor, is it just the heads or what makes the xtra 30 hp? Just got started on my 02 sport since it is out of warranty soon.

 

The 3.5 is the engine with 197HP, my 3.0 is 165HP.
I *think* the 3.5L engine is only offered on the Limited from 99-04, someone may set me straight.

 

Check Edmunds.com... that oughta clear it up.

I am sure someone here may have an answer for you...do you have a specific problem or are you just curious on the codes?

 

NO not like engine problem codes, like the ones that are stamped on the engine to find out more about it, like what other engines are similar, to find x performance parts.

 

Assuming you have the 3.5L, which im pretty sure you do, then the engine code for it is 6g74. It was also offered in the Mitsubishi Diamante. Check under the hood and see if there is a sticker there on the bottom side of the hood. Alot of times it will tell you the information on the motor and such
