'03 Monte Sport XLS 3.5 oil leak HELP, Please!!!!!
Hey, I'm new around here, hope I'm doing this right. Can SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, PLEASE, tell why the H%@@ I can not get the Stupid ...... Camshaft Seal Thrust Plate (cam plug, head plug, part # 198113, O-ring holder or what ever else you might call the leaky A$$ thing located at the rear of your cylinder head that we all have and they all leak oil), to go back in the D^#& head. I get about 3/4 of the way or to the O-ring and it just WILL NOT go any further. I've already broken the ear off of one, so I'm trying to be careful, but this thing just wont go in. Can ANYBODY tell me WHY? What am I doing wrong???
Any advice would be greatly appreciate any advice!!!!!
Most likely cause is that the camshaft sensor is not clocked in correct orientation relative to the camshaft. Take a small mirror, examine the orientation of tje end of camshaft (also make sure nothing is there that doesn't belong...), then clock the sensor in the same relative position and slide it in. You may need to rotate sensor just a little to make sure o-ring slides in place easily.
I believe he is trying to install a cam seal on the rear of the head. I recommend thoroughly cleaning both the camshaft plug and the receiving end on the back of the head, then very lightly apply engine oil to the seal and cam plug. While inserting the plug with the new seal installed, try gently rotating the plug back and forth as you install it. There will come a point as you said where it seems it won't go in any further, you can take something like a crow bar and pry against the firewall to apply force to the back of the plug. Additionally you can insert the screws, tighten them finger tight, then slowly apply more force with a wrench alternating each bolt like 1~2 ft-lbs sequentially. As long as you are patient and gentle with how much force you apply to each bolt little by little you should be fine.
Sorry it's been so long guys, as it turns out, I broke the new part as well. and it was the only one the junk yard had. However, I think I've got that problem solved. Now for the new problem; It's been so long since I started this project that I cant remember how to get it back together. So here is my question.
The top radiator hose connects to a large metal pipe which extends to the rear of the motor, just before the 90 deg bend directing it towaeds the bottom end the is a hose conector pointing right at the passenger fender (it is positioned right over the corner of the passenger side cylinder head at the rear intake corner)................Where the hell does the other end of that hose connect....................PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!...... ........and Thank You!!!!!
That goes to the back of throttle body. You should have two short pieces of rubber hose.
One from that 90 degree pipe to the back of TB, and second from front of TB to a smaller metal pipe that sticks out at 45 degrees towards passenger side.
