Default 03 Montero - Can't get front rotors off

I was doing the front brakes yesterday and could not get the darn rotors off. I took off the caliper brackets and the rotors would not budge - even with a rubber mallet. What gives? I have done many brake jobs before and never had this happen.

there should be two screws retaining them.. have you removed the screws?

Try an impact screwdriver if you are having problems with the screws.

You might not be able to get them off without totally disassembling the hub, thats how it is on older full sized Montero models (my 95 Montero you have to totally repack the bearings, and have a special lock ring tool). Be careful not to do anything too drastic without knowing exactly what you're doing, because repacking the bearings is a PAIN unless you're familiar with the procedure.

So true, but at least you can repack your bearings, the Gen III bearings are non-serviceable.
