0w30 - Im going for it.
Ok - I picked up a 5 qt jug of Mobil 1 full syn 0w30. I plan on using it in the 03 montero limited. The valve clacking right at start up has always bugged me and Im hoping a 0w will get up the top of the motor faster when cold. I cringe when I hear the automatic choke rev the motor so hard stone-cold...
Does anyone have the latest oil approved list from Mitsu? I wonder if any 0w show up on the list...

Great idea - Ive never heard of it. The accumulator (accusump) is exactly what I need. Does it work? Do you have any experience with it? It seems expensive $220 for the unit and $120 for the electric switch that automatically oils the motor when ignition switch is activated.
What concerns me is that can this thing lube the OHVs and cams if activated. I dont know where the oil is introduced in the upper parts of the motor and if an in-line accumulator would actually work on a montero limited.

I checked this link:
www.accusump.com/accusump.pdf/instructions.pdf
and it seems that I would have to use the installation method described on page 3. I dont have external oil cooler or remote filter. Thus I would have to use the sandwich adapter. The down side is that the sandwich adapter is down at the bottom of the motor and not sure how much protection it would provide to the upper parts of the motor.
I really need something that bathes the upper portion with oil before I turn on the ignition... The valve racket is really annoying and worrysome.
