Default 1990 Montero/Rear brakes

I have a 1990 Montero, 2 door, V6, auto that I am setting up. Most of it's use will be on the street. I play a lot of sports and put approx 30K a year getting around todifferent events and do not want to put any more miles on the new cars so am building/refurbishing the Montero to carry that load.
My question is this. Can rear disc brakes be retro-fitted to this vehicle without replacing the rear differential? It's pretty much under braked with the rear drum configuration. Any feedbackre: going 4 wheel disc would be appreciated.

I'm sure it's possible to do w/out swapping the diff but it's easier to do if you swap the rear diff. Make sure if you get a new diff to purchase the entire assembly including trailing arms (bigger stronger in 2nd gen and bolts right up to 1st gen), and driveshaft (so you can swap p/o the u joints over) and also the brake cables IIRC.

That should be about it and it's supposed to bolt right up. If you want, send me a PM and I can put you in contact with someone who recently did this with their 89 2 door montero.

HTH.
