Default 1995 Montero

I'm new and bought my first Mitsubishi ever. It's a 1995 3.5L was wondering if there is a good engine swap out there, or should I rebuild the current 3.5L? It runs but I have a miss. I can grab the plug wire at the coil and it will arc threw the wire, is the wire bad, it looks good. I tried it on the other 2 coils and nothing.

Thanks

You may need to have the plugs changed, along with the wires if they're arching. The engine is stout, and the larger of the two offered (the other is a 3.0L).

If the plugs need changed that is one thing, why would you want to rebuild or replace the motor due to a miss?

I changed the plugs, they got there moneys worth out of them. I'll get some wires and see what happens.
I'm just looking ahead because the motor has 177k. Thanks I'm sure I will be posting more questions.

I would do the wires and see if that helps the miss. The PO may not have changed the wires when the plugs were done in the past (original wires?), and now your new plugs aren't happy.

BTW, 177K is high but I have seen many other members in various boards with 200K+ on the original Monte engines/transmissions with no *rebuild* in sight. There are certain things that can happen and be an annoyance, such as leaky valve stem seals which cause oil burning at idle and upon startup.

I bought a used 1995 montero 3.5 sr.
I bought it because i heard of its reliabilty.
But now im having issues with tranny and very loud engine noise.
Its got 216,000 miles but the body is in exellent condition.
A friend told me he thinks its the hydrualic timing tensioner.
Im afraid it might be more like some bent pistons ect.
What should i do?
Replace the hydrualic timing tensioner?
Belts?
Water pump ect?
Where can I find a 3.5 sr montero Manual?
