2000 Montero Sport Electical Issues
I am looking to see if anyone can offer any guidance what so ever. My wifes Montero has been having issues. As of late when driving the radio will cut out. It doesn't happen al of the time. Ususally when it has sat over night. I have noticed that it happens primarily when you hit the breaks. When you hit the breaks when you are idling the lights will dim. When you are driving at slower speeds the lights will dim and the radio will periodically cut out/lose power. When you are on the highway the lights will dim, the radio will cut out/lose power and the Temperature gague in the rear view mirror will lose power and reset. The thing that throws me off is that it doesn't happen all of the time.
Please let me know what you guys think/how this can be fixed. Also, if you need any more information please let me know.

BAD Battery. get it tested. turn your key to the on position(dont start it) then put on the radio and your lights while looking at the battery gauge. if it moves below 12 then replace it.
A bad alternator if all else fails.
