Default 2002 Monetero XLS Running in H Range

Temperature gauge running in H range, but eventually coming down, but goes automatically to H when i start it up. No overheating and runs like a charm?
I have read that this can be a problem with the dash? and Ideas or suggestions? no leaks also.

Hi wally3800.. had this issue with my montero before. It could either be a faulty temp sensor or a faulty temp guage. On mine,it was a faulty temp guage. There is a fix that I did that I saw online and it worked great after that. If you can do a bit of diy on your montero..I think you can do this.
